Therapist
India received her Masters of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2020. She has been working in mental health and human services since 2016, and has actively practiced therapy since 2019. She is experienced in areas such as domestic violence, sexual trauma, intimate partner violence, severe
mental illness, and generalized and trauma focused psychotherapy.
She has worked with a variety of populations, but enjoys connection and outreach with veterans and those who identify as black, indigenous, or persons of color. In her spare time, she enjoys a variety of fitness activities, watching Netflix, and trying new food recipes.
As a trauma focused therapist, it is important to me to view the whole person and fully understand the concerns presented by my clients. To do this, I choose a holistic approach that involves compassion for self and others, assertive communication, and client collaboration.
While it is not uncommon to seek therapy and hope for someone to "fix me"
or "solve my problems", I don't solve problems. I view our problems in the context of our experiences and environment, and explore how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, either work for our best interest – or they don't.
My role is to collaborate with my clients to develop more adaptive and effective solutions and support movement closer to who we desire to be. My role is to support, to listen, to encourage, and to offer education as needed. However, solutions and skills are already within us – sometimes we just need support pulling those things out.
